Football Betting Tips: Banish the International Break Blues Here!

We know what it’s like: the international break can play havoc with the humble punter’s betting activities of a weekend. No Premier League, no Championship….where are the best bets now?

Don’t worry, kind sir: we’ve got you covered. Listed below are what we consider to be the very best betting tips from Leagues One and Two this weekend….you can thank us later!

League One

Peterborough vs Bury

Well have a gander at this. Peterborough, for whom five of their last six, take on Bury (88% of last eight outings Over 2.5 Goals) in the televised lunchtime kick off.

A great match for the neutral spectator then, and an even better one for the punter. The visitors have score 14 and conceded seven in their last six outings, with Posh netting in all but one of their last half-dozen, which came against in-form Sheffield United.

Recommended Bet: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals at 17/20 with Coral

Scunthorpe United vs Northampton Town

Top plays fifth in this three o’clock kick off on Saturday, and this is another fixture that has an air of goals about it.

Six of Scunthorpe’s last eight have witnessed three or more goals, with the Irons bagging eight and conceding four in their last trio of outings alone.

Northampton, meanwhile, have scored an incredible 16 goals in their last eight appearances – shipping ten in the process, so the Glanford Park had better prepare themselves for goals.

Recommended Bet: Both Teams to Score at 4/5 with Betfair

Gillingham vs Oldham

Make no bones about it: we were delighted to see Gillingham listed as a ‘double your money’ chance here.

The Gills are a bizarre outfit: they have conceded a whopping 18 goals in their last eight, and yet have only lost 50% of those matches! So yes, you are right to conclude that they are pretty sharp in front of goal themselves.

Oldham, bottom of the table with one win in eleven, have netted once in their last five games, so it is hard to really see them spoiling the party here.

Recommended Bet: Gillingham to Win at Evens with Betfred

League Two

Luton Town vs Crewe Alexandra

A bit of process of elimination settled this selection: Luton have scored in 100% of their home matches this term (11 in 5), while Crewe have conceded nine in five away days; including a 1-5 last time out on the road at Wycombe.

Just two weeks ago the Hatters flattened second-placed Doncaster 3-1 at Kenilworth Road, so we’re happy to back them here.

Recommended Bet: Luton to Win at 4/5 with William Hill

Stevenage vs Plymouth

It’s been a tremendous start to the campaign for Plymouth Argyle, and the Pilgrims have now won seven of their last eight outings – including 4/5 on the road.

Stevenage meanwhile have shipped 14 in their last eight outings – the third worst defensive record in the division, and one point taken from a possible nine against bottom half sides Cheltenham, Wycombe and Exeter is indicative of their struggles.

Recommended Bet: Plymouth to Win at 5/4 with BetVictor

Exeter vs Grimsby

Exeter’s problems are all of their own making. They have lost all five of their home matches this term, scored twice in their last five outings and conceded at least once in 91% of their games this season. That’s not the form of champions.

What do we know about Grimsby on the road? Well they don’t seem to mind being away from home, if wins over Luton and Mansfield and a draw with Notts County are anything to go by, and they have netted in 82% of outings this term – they’ve got the firepower to win this match, but our selection adds an element of safety into the mix.

Recommended Bet: Grimsby Draw No Bet at 8/11 with Betfair
